Private capital for public good: How to harness institutional finance for global and domestic decarbonisation
The UK Government has set in law the world’s most ambitious climate change target, to cut emissions by 78% by 2035, to bring it more than three-quarters of the way to net zero by 2050. To achieve this will require significant additional investment.
We will discuss how policymakers can unlock institutional finance to support decarbonisation, including how institutions such as the Bank of England, regulators and HM Treasury can be retooled for the challenge. We will also explore the investment prospects for private and public sectors, from electric vehicles to hydrogen and carbon capture and storage, and how the Government can support markets to seize opportunities and navigate pitfalls.
Speakers include:
Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
Dr Rhian-Mari Thomas OBE, Chief Executive, Green Finance Institute
Hubert Keller, Co-Senior Partner, Lombard Odier Group
When: Wednesday, 15th September 2021
Time: 10.30am - 11.15am
